Open Summary ("the app") is designed to keep your data on your device and under your control. This policy explains, in plain language, what the app does and does not do with your information.
The app stores the following locally on your device, and nowhere else:

You can delete any meeting, recording, or transcript at any time from within the app, or by removing the files directly (they are visible in the iOS Files app). Uninstalling the app removes all of this data.
Open Summary is a "bring your own key" app. To transcribe and summarise, the app sends your audio and/or transcript directly from your device to the third-party provider you choose and configure (for example Groq, OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter, or a server you host yourself). This data does not pass through any service operated by us.
When you use such a provider, your data is subject to that provider's privacy policy and terms. We are not responsible for how third-party providers handle your data. Please review the policy of whichever provider(s) you configure. If you use a self-hosted or local provider (such as Ollama), your data stays within your own infrastructure.
If you choose to share or export a meeting (as Markdown, PDF, or a ZIP bundle), the content is handled by the destination you pick (for example a messaging app, email, or file storage) according to their policies. Exported bundles never include your API keys.
The app does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children. Because no data is collected by us, there is no personal data of children for us to process.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised "last updated" date.
